“Oh, you work in Ocean View…have you been robbed yet?”
That is the usual response we get when we tell local “Cape Townians” that we work in Ocean View.
Sami and I were pushing our groceries home a few days ago and a man, walking the other directions, saw us about to cross the street. He did a double take of our stuff and us and blatantly changed his direction in order to come our way. He walked up to us and attempted to place his hands on the shopping cart. He started saying stuff about how he wanted to take the cart away. We hastened our walk but he kept walking right behind us. A few seconds later, He went from Sami’s side of the cart to where my purse was on my side. We both thought he was about to snag our stuff but instead he sat down.
All of a sudden, he just sat down on the road.
We made it safely through our gate and we looked back to see him still sitting there. The whole time we were both praying like mad. Relieved and thankful, we giggled because of what Jesus had done for us.
He seriously made that man drop to the ground just because we called on His Mighty Name.
There is no reason that nothing has ever happened to us except that Jesus really loves us.
Jesus calls us to walk in the authority that He gives us and to trust that He really will come when we call on Him!
This weekend Sami, Krista, Kacey, and I all got invited to spend the night with Tasneem. She is a Muslim lady who I work with at school. Almost everyday, God opens up doors and gives me opportunity to talk about Jesus with her. I often tell her straight up that she just needs Jesus. She always humors me. I really do have a ton of favor with her and I am so thankful for our relationship. Anyways, the four of us got to spend all day and night at Tasneem’s house this Sunday.
Towards the end of the night, Tasneem was complaining about her back and neck hurting and I asked her if we could pray for her. Her kids were one room away falling asleep to a soundtrack of the Quran in Arabic. During the prayer Sami saw dark demonic beings come out of the bedroom. Literally there was a war going on in that house.
For the first time ever, Jesus’s light was shining in on the darkness.
Tasneem didn’t want to admit it but later that night she told us that her back and neck felt so much better. Thank you Jesus!
Sami and I were lying in bed that night and she was explaining what she had seen come out of the bedroom. We hadn’t been afraid or felt weird about anything until we were talking about the big, scary, black demons that Sami had seen right down the stairs. The fear tried to creep in but we just started speaking Jesus’ name out loud and praised Him for always being our protector.
He was there as soon as we started thanking Him and asking for his presence!
While we were lying there, God put a little safety bubble around our bed. It was like I could literally see the demonic stuff bouncing right off of it.
Then I just envisioned myself in lots of different scenarios that should be scary but I always had the bubble around me and Jesus was always right there! Finally, I envisioned myself lying in a prison cell. It was cold, dark, and scary…but only outside of my Jesus bubble. Then I realized, NO matter what, Jesus will always satisfy and bring joy because he is good. So good.
I need Jesus and only Jesus.
I have Jesus. So I have joy. I have peace. I have the one who brings comfort.
He is NEVER going anywhere.
No matter what the circumstance, Jesus constantly goes before us. Jesus constantly goes with us.
In every uncertainty of the world, Jesus remains constant. He will never let us down!
**Please pray for Tasneem and her two babies She is so hungry for true satisfaction and just needs Jesus!!**
There IS power in the Name of Jesus!! Carly, I knew that God was up to something when “The Plans”,(His plans )were for you guys to spend the night at Tasneem’s house. Your story is a reminder and an encouragement to always trust in the power of His name…awesome!! Love you
Wow!!! I have chills right now and I have read it twice. Keep on keeping on Carly Bug!! I love you!
Wow! So I literally just got this link off AIMs twitter and got so excited when I read you’re in Cape Town! Ive been here since january studying abroad. God is doing some AMAZING things here. So exciting! Praying for you guys!
Hey carly! Can’t wait to see you next month! This latest blog blew me away. A protective bubble is exactly what I see when I say my prayers at night. It started when I was living in Dallas. Whenever I would say to watch over me and my family, I would get a vision of my house, my mom’s, etc surrounded by a “bubble”. Almost like a snow globe! It’s been ten years and I still see it when I say a “protective” prayer. Even when I am flying I see the plane surrounded by a bubble! I just had to share that with you because your description was so familiar! Take care and we miss you bunches!!
Love you,
Linda
