We are safely in Honduras!! Everything so far has surpassed my expectations. Learning from training camp I had very low expectations but this absolutely rocks. Tegucigalpa is so pretty! The weather is wonderful and our view is awesome. The next few days we will be settling in to our new home in the mountains, Zion’s Gate Ministries! The people here are great. A couple, Tony and Nidea live here with 15 kids. Most of these kids are from Los Piños, which is a village about 30 minutes away. They all have heart-wrenching stories and are so blessed to be here with the Zion’s Gate family.
We will be sleeping in our tents the whole time we are in Honduras. As soon as the sun rises the people in Tegucigalpa start going. I was woken up around 5:45 from the loud buses on the highway only 50 yards away. It is very entertaining to watch the way people drive here because there are no laws or regulations. This morning I saw about 10 or 15 small kids all piled standing up in the back of a teeny tiny pick up truck. The truck barely stopped as the kids jumped out and proceeded to run down the dirt road to school.
Tony is giving us the next few days off before we begin any organized ministry so until then I will be loving on kids, eating super delicioso homemade Honduran food, taking some nice ice cold showers, drinking lots of coffee, learning Spanish and teaching English and hanging out at my new favorite spot, the tire swing.
